The 16 Authority Cards

The Authority Court Cards Are Archetypal Phases Of Expression.

They provide an operational analysis of the four elemental fields—

the four suits of tarot—

by describing their present capacity for effective function:

  • Energetic compression,

  • Mental processing,

  • Responsive signaling,

  • Physical production

Each element contains four Authority Cards:

Princess • Prince • Knight • Queen

These are not hierarchy ranks.

They are phases of expression within an element.

Authority does not imply superiority.

It describes how energy is embodied and directed.

The Four Phases of Authority

Princess — Emergence

Conventional tarot: Page

Young and experiential.

A turning point. New options appear.

Potential is ready to express.

Prince — Direction

Conventional tarot: Knight

A young or developing phase.

An internal shift becomes external intention.

Energy begins to organize toward action.

Knight — Application

Conventional tarot: King

Mature and capable.

Active execution.

Energy moves, responds, and engages.

Queen — Stabilization

Conventional tarot: Queen

Balanced and embodied.

Experience has become integrated.

Guidance comes through mastery within the element.

Authority Is Non-Hierarchical

The Authority Cards do not describe levels of superiority.

A Princess is not less valuable than a Queen.

A Queen is not “better” than a Princess.

Each represents a different phase through which an elemental field can express itself.

The question is not:

Who is highest?

The question is:

How is this energy functioning now?

What the Authority Cards May Represent

Depending on the reading, an Authority Card may represent:

· Personality patterns

· Behavioral tendencies

· Stages of maturity

· Roles within a situation

· External influences

The same card can therefore describe an internal condition, another person, a role being played, or a phase an experience is moving through.

Astrological Alignment

Each elemental field can also be associated with its corresponding zodiac signs:

🔵 Blue — AirAquarius • Libra • Gemini

🔴 Red — FireAries • Leo • Sagittarius

🟢 Green — WaterPisces • Scorpio • Cancer

🟡 Yellow — EarthCapricorn • Taurus • Virgo

These correspondences can support the interpretation of:

· Timing

· Temperament

· Relational dynamics

Character and Personality

Personality and character are not monolithic.

They are not made of one uniform quality.

They form an intricate display of mixed qualities—

like works of art individually composed and tailored to fit

one person at a time.

Some are impressive.

Others—not so much.

Either way, you can understand their unique imprint in relation to each individual's life story.

Within the four elemental fields, the Authority Cards can express different qualities.

Authority 🔵 Blue — Air 🔴 Red — Fire 🟢 Green — Water 🟡 Yellow — Earth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Princess Moodiness Impulsiveness Immaturity Assistance

Prince Confusion Argument Potential -Motivation

Queen Questioning Knowing Reasoning Controlling

Knight Commitment Resolution Presentation Execution

These qualities are not fixed personality types.

They are possible expressions of an elemental field within experience.

The I Am One Court Structure

Conventional tarot traditionally uses four court-card roles:

Page • Knight • Queen • King

The I Am One Tarot system uses:

Princess • Prince • Knight • Queen

The four roles are intentionally arranged as two feminine and two masculine expressions, rather than the conventional three-male, one-female court structure.

This is not simply a change of names.

It reflects a different way of understanding authority:

as phases of expression rather than a hierarchy of rank.

The Authority Cards, their phases, elemental correspondences,

and interpretations described here are part of

the I Am One Tarot system.
