What Is Destiny in Tarot?
Often, accepting destiny separates happiness from misery. Fortune can be understood in several different ways.

The Wheel of Time vs. The Wheel of Fortune
What do we know about destiny?
A predetermined course of events,
seemingly beyond our control.
Maybe it is, when we observe life events
as a straight sequence of time:
Yesterday — memory — was.
Today — awareness — is.
Tomorrow — anticipation — will be.
That is the linear concept of time,
with the present at its center point.
Since time only moves forward, we cannot go back.
We are always at the present, looking forward toward the future
or looking back to remember the past.
A Circular Time Concept
Now, what if the linear model is only a section
within a circular model?
The present is Point A, at the center of a circle.
Point B is the future, placed on the circle.
Point A draws a straight line to Point B.
Like a big clock, time moves forward.
And whatever is left behind becomes the past.
From the central point of view—the present—
we can now view the future and the past
as they leave their marks on the circle.
As the Wheel of Time completes a full circle,
a new cycle repeats over the first one.
And so on.
Before we know it,
a pattern is formed.
Past and future keep changing positions on the outer circle,
but the present at the center
stays the same.
The Wheel of Time Tells a Story
From the present point at the center,
the Self moves in straight lines
toward future points of experience,
leaving behind a trail of past memories.
Repeated cycles of time reveal a chain of events.
The events are not necessarily the same,
but familiar enough to present opportunities
for the Self to experience similar patterns.
The first full cycle establishes a pattern of experience.
As the cycle repeats, similar events may recur.
Each recurrence offers another opportunity for experience.
Over time, the experiences form a life story.
What Was Will Be — The Wheel of Fortune Is a Promise
Is experience included in fortune?
The Wheel of Fortune presents events as unrelated occurrences,
happening by chance.
The Wheel of Time reveals a sequence of experiences
within repeating cycles.
One offers hope and fate,
but no control over the unknown.
The other reveals a story
with variations of experience.
Either way,
we cannot change our destiny,
whether known or unknown.
What we can do is learn to read our life story
and understand how we operate as individuals
under certain circumstances.
What we can change is:
Behavior.
Perception.
Acceptance.
Often, acceptance is what separates happiness from misery.
Fortune can be understood in several different ways.
The accumulation of physical goods
is only one of them.
What about the accumulation of experience
that enriches the heart, mind, and soul?
How fortunate are you
to have a life story
and to be able to see it unfold
right before your very eyes?
Good or bad,
it is yours
and yours only.
